PLCS for data sharing between French MoD and Industry - What’s new for the last two years?
Presentation made by Sébastien OLIVIER (Direction Générale de l’Armement - French MoD) and CDT Michel PEREZ (Structure Intégrée du Maintien en condition opérationnelle des Matériels Terrestres - French MoD) at 11th NATO LCM Conference, 27 January 2015, Brussels. After ratifying the STANAG 4661 (PLCS) in January 2010 and after an experimentation of this standard, French MoD decided to launch realization of PENCIL project in September 2012. PENCIL is an interface, based on PLCS, to exchange and share data between land vehicles manufacturers LIS (Logistic Information System) and SIM@T (LIS for Land systems Support). CAESAR program, built by NEXTER manufacturer for French Army, was the first program connected to PENCIL. The presentation will show in detail the development of PENCIL: creation of six DEXs (Data EXchange specifications), integration into Partners Area and elaboration of HMI (Human Machine Interface). PENCIL for CAESAR program will be operational at the end of 2014. Finally, the presentation will describe the MAPS study which is the extension of PENCIL to all the functionalities of SIM@T. With the future implementation of the technical recommendations included in the MAPS study, all the data (in-service support data, provisioning data from S2000M specification, LSAR data from S3000L specification,… ) will be exchanged automatically in PLCS between land vehicles manufacturers LIS and SIM@T.
