ASD SSG has delivered several key results in 2014, including the 1st version of the Through Life-cycle Interoperability report, two newsletters distributed to more than 500 people, and a website enriched with new statements and pages (e.g. page on MoSSEC standard). ASD SSG fully supports planned and ongoing actions to strengthen STEP architecture and ensure consistency between Application Protocols, and beyond between STEP and other required interoperability standards (e.g. JT ed 2 consistency with STEP). ASD SSG also supports planned implementer forums and benchmarks, enabling quick and coherent implementation of standards by IT vendors, leading to successful deployment in A&D industry. The ASD ILS suite of specifications is now covering the global Integrated Logistics Support domain, thanks to several new published versions (e.g. S3000L, S4000P, SX002D), and consistency is ensured between specifications thanks to DMEWG work and with other domains thanks to the targeted consistency with AP239 PLCS ed 3. A mapping has been performed across all ILS specs. to identify gaps and overlaps. Downloads from related websites indicate a high interest from the global community – many of these visits coming from the SSG website.

ASD SSG Radar Chart has been reviewed and actions identified to deliver an updated version (V1.7) early October 2014, including a series of new & updated blips. A discussion took place on funding opportunities for standardisation/interoperability activities – in line with the SSG roadmap for standards availability. This should be pursued and

It was also an opportunity to share and discuss the results of the workshop “Explore STEP information models & formats for the A&D industry for PLM interoperability and archival, and propose recommendations for future development and implementation”, organised with AIA and PDES Inc., March 6 & 7, 2014 at Gaithersburg MD, USA.

Executive Summary A new version of the Radar Chart, V1.6, is in preparation and should include new blips related to TSCP, multi-disciplinary simulation and ISO55000. This version will be discussed during the next SSG calls for a publication in September/October this year.

Executive Summary The SSG has progressed on its Radar Chart V1.5, to be published in April. This should include new adoption statements related to: ISO 14306 JT V1, STEP Application Protocols 203 and AP214, plus new blips (e.g. TSCP ILH v1). MoSSEC (from Crescendo project) is identified as a new component standard to be tracked and supported.

Executive Summary The SSG has performed his workshop at ASD Convention, 11th October in Lisbon. The workshop was well attended and in line with other presentations made at the related “Technology Forum”. Interaction with the audience was lower than expected, despite some good discussions at the end. Ideas have been identified for an SSG booth at next ASD Convention. A new version of the SSG Radar Chart (V1.4) has been published early October. Some minor updates have been decided, the updated version will be available on SSG website in the next 2 weeks. ASD statements on 3D viewers and on JT Ballot have been developed and will be proposed to SSG members for validation. Three 2013 priority objectives have been identified:
To reach these objectives, the SSG WP organisation is updated with the following working groups: Through life-cycle interoperability, ILS, PLM, Data Quality, Hub collaboration, Supply chain, Security. Executive Summary
A new version of the SSG Radar Chart (V1.4) will be published in September, incorporating a significant number of new and updated blips. The workshop at ASD Convention, 11th October in Lisbon, has been organised and will be an opportunity to communicate on SSG business benefits and attract new members. Progress has been reported by working-groups:
A 1st session took place on the standardisation tooling, that should be pursiued in the next months to deliver SSG recommendations on the subject. The reflexion started by SSG during previous meeting on the "backbone of standards" covering the whole life-cycle (and joining between the design world and the support world) has been pursuied and UKCeB will be organising a seminar on this subject (27 September, Bristol). Several pages of the SSG website have been updated.

SSG plan to manage the maturity of operational solutions answering to “business scenarios” and integrating several component standards. Actions have been made or have been identified to reinforce the visibility and recognition of SSG:
Radar Chart V1.3 has been validated and will be published shortly. It includes the adoption of TSCP SEv1 – adoption made using the new validation procedure without full ASD consultation process.
A teleconference with AIA is planned in January to coordinate on strategy and tasks. The SSG will candidate to organise a workshop at next ASD Convention, October 2012.

Executive Summary This ASD SSG meeting included an “Open Session” with invited participants from Spain and Japan. This was an opportunity to share SSG works and identify further collaborations (including the involvement of new SSG members). One result expected from this session is the development of common recommendations with SJAC (Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies) on several subjects, like the exchange of CAD composite data.
The SSG organisation has been updated, with Franz Meier from Eurocopter as vice-chairman. The SSG collaborative site (on BoostAeroSpace/AirCollab) is now operating, and it has been decided to increase visibility of SSG by publishing pages – independently of ASD-STAN website in a first step. The SSG workshop at ASD Convention has been structured and will require preparation in the next weeks. The MoU with AIA on eBusiness standards is still targeted at this event but requires support from ASD-STAN.
A process has been adopted for Use case validation at SSG level. The next version of SSG Radar Chart (V1.3) is planned in November. Boostaero now officially adopted by ASD. TSCP SEv1 should also reach adoption..

Executive Summary ASD SSG should be officially attached to ASD-STAN, with identified links with appropriate ASD working groups. And publications from SSG should be hosted on ASD-STAN website. SSG will use the collaborative capability provided by BoostAeroSpace, from end of March. Visibility on SSG activities should also be increased thanks to the workshop organised at the next ASD Convention in Istanbul, September, entitled “Information across the Value Chain – Managing a Critical Business Asset”. A new version of the Radar Chart (V1.2) is validated and published. Actions have been identified for the next version – including the re-launch of BoostAero adoption process. Industry requirements: the list of Use Cases has been updated, including new Use Cases. A process will be defined for Use Case validation. A discussion with AIA is planned on 24th of March to identify collaborations and plan an MoU covering SSG perimeter.

Executive Summary Several communication actions have been made these last months, including the organisation of an e-Business workshop at the ASD Convention in Montreux, October 2010. The publication of SSG information on the ASD web-site has still to be set-up. In the same way the ASD Extranet is no longer effective, and a solution must be found. The link between the ASD SSG and the new ASD organisation (including the new Service Commission) has to be clarified. The component standards have been reviewed, and new blips defined that should be included in the next version of the Radar Screen. Activities performed by the SSG Working Groups have been reviewed, and 2011 objectives have been set. The SSG Handbook will be updated accordingly.

Executive Summary The SSG Radar Screen V1 is validated and will be published. The PDM Policy should be a second result, to be validated at next SSG meeting. After a final validation of the blip inside SSG, BoostAero will be proposed to ASD for adoption. An e-business workshop will be organised at the ASD Convention 2010, with the objective to show our first results and attract more interest and participants. 2 communication events took place in the last months: the PLM Standardisation Day at EADS and the “Convention Normalisation” organised by French DGA with SSG participation. Collaboration with AIA will require an additional ASD-AIA MoU, as current MoUs are restricted to the S-series. Actions defined by two Working Groups, ILS and PLM, are progressing well. The other Working Groups need to clarify 2010 targets.

Executive Summary During this meeting significant progress has been made on the SSG Radar Screen. Actions have been defined to reach a 1st version, to be validated at working level early April, and that will be followed by an official ASD validation process. The PDM Policy should be a second result delivered by SSG, to be validated at the next SSG meeting. The official validation of these results is identified as a key element for the recognition of SSG and its support by industry stakeholders. Communication is today identified as a weak point and should be increased in the next months (e.g. using the EADS Standardisation Day). The development of an MoU with AIA need to be restarted once the way to proceed is agreed with G. Lessmann, who has proposed an overarching agreement covering all standardisation, which is not acceptable to AIA. Actions defined by two Working Groups, ILS and PLM, are progressing well. The other Working Groups need to define their 2010 workplan and start activities.

Executive Summary The meeting has focused on 2009 results and the planning of 2010 activities. Part of the meeting has been dedicated to parallel workshops to progress on these issues. OCCAR and Airbus Military are welcomed as new SSG partners. Two main results are confirmed for short term:
Actions have been taken to deliver these results early 2010. The publication of official ASD SSG deliverables is considered as a strategic objective for the Group. The SSG Working Group activities have been updated with 2010 activities. The “ILS Standards Working Group” has been defined and its link with CPSC will be established in the next months. The “Hub Collaboration Standards Working Group” has been restructured. The SSG Handbook will be updated including the list of SSG members and the planned 2010 Working Group activities.

Executive Summary Some progress has been made: · Enlarged set of activities (convergent AP, TDP Message, BoostAeroSpace, …) · Recognition at ASD level (eBusiness Workshop at ASD Convention) But the organisation of SSG activities is still weak, and we are far from the first version of expected deliverables: ASD SSG radar screen, SSG Business roadmap, CAD & PDM standards policy, SCM standards policy. The objective is then to increase the effort up to the end of the year, and to present at next meeting 1st versions of these deliverables. Considering the need to justify the added value of SSG activities, the group will work on a synthesis document describing SSG 2009 activities. Technical decisions made: · Recommendation to support AP242 development, and AP203 Ed2 by default. · Removal of the “Collaborative Hub standards policy” working group.

Executive Summary This SSG meeting undertook a final review of the Terms or Reference and the Executive Summary of the new SSG group. The constitution of the SSG board has been updated and finalised. A large set of Component Standards has been reviewed. The structuring in Working Groups has been completed, and is expected to reinforce SSG activities in the future. Technical decisions made: SSG confirms the need of a White Paper to define the case for developing a modular version of STEP AP214, and convergence with the other modular APs, and approves the proposed funding scheme.
Meeting N°4 of the ASD SSG (Strategic Standardization Group), held on the 10th and 11th of March 2009 at Dassault Aviation (St Cloud)
Participation: The SSG meeting has gathered 16 persons, of 10 European manufacturers, and A&D associations (BAES, Dassault-Aviation, EADS MAS, Airbus, Eurocopter, Astium, Thales, SAFRAN, MTU), ASD-Stan, and a military governmental agency (SIMMAD).
Executive summary: - Organization: The E3AG is dissolved, and the SSG reports to the Operations Commission. Election of the SSG 2009 board: Chairman: Y. Baudier, Vice-chairmen: P. Faure, Dassault, - Communication. Proposal to prepare a 2 hours presentation of the SSG during the annual ASD conference (Helsinki 1st and 2nd of Oct. 2009). - Technical data package message project: High international interest but low participation; the communication with OASIS PLCS community has been set up. The objective is to create an OASIS DEX. Consistency to ensure with the LOTAR pilot aiming at standardizing the Preservation Descriptive Information (PDI) of the Archive Information Package. - LOTAR: next AIA - ASD Stan workshop in USA mid of March; 1 day workshop to agree on common concepts for LT archiving of Product Management data. - PLCS: STEP AP 239 V.1 was published in 2005. A new version is in preparation in 2009, and will ensure compatible with the latest modules created for STEP 203ed2, STEP 210ed2, & STEP 233 - BoostAeroSpace: all SSG companies are invited to take part to the BoostAeroSpace security extended Proof of Concept for the security layer. CEOs board on the 2nd of April 2009 for final validation of scope and budget. Planned budget of 10 M€ for 2009. - Presentation “Use of STEP AP 239 PLCS within Thalès”, for PDM communication between the disciplines workbenches and the PDM enterprise system. Start of operational use in April 2009. - Presentation “Creation of 3D Vizualization data for CAD exchange” by Snecma. For released data, 3D visualization data created from the archive CAD STEP format seems to be the best way, in order to ensure the best consistency. - 3D light visualization standards: 5 proposals still in review. SSG statement to be reviewed for the next SSG of June 09: “A standard for 3D visualization shall include the mapping with STEP standard and be compatible with It”. - Preparation of a policy for PDM information interoperability standards. Organization by ProSTEP iViP of a workshop on April, 28th in Darmstadt with representatives of the SSG. Analysis of the potential modularization of STEP AP 214, and of its harmonization with the other relevant STEP modular standards. - Continuation of the description of scenarios for interoperability: - Collaborative ECR-ECO in cooperation mode, - Exchange of CAD-PDM data with equipment & manufacturing suppliers. - Architecture framework: proposal to agree on an overview presenting the main Aerospace eBusiness standards and their relationships. Several points of views are useful: product life cycle, aerospace disciplines, IS layers. Decision to keep the current architecture framework based on 4 layers (business process, information, application / services, infrastructure).
Meeting N°2 of the ASD SSG (Strategic Standardization Group), held on the 15th and 16th of October 2008 at EADS MAS Manching
This SSG meeting has gathered 15 persons, of 9 European manufacturers, and A&D associations (BAES, Dassault-Aviation, EADS MAS, EADS Airbus, EADS Eurocopter, THALES, SAFRAN, Volvo Aero, MTU), the BDLI, & a military governmental agency as guest (SIMMAD).
Executive summary:
a) Development of the list of business scenarios and use cases for interoperability of A&D product and process information. This document will be updated at each SSG meeting, as the basis for the monitoring of the development and use of the e-Business “components standards”. b)Presentation of a preliminary version of the list of e-Business component standards requested by the European A&D manufacturers. c) Start of the mapping of the business scenarios and use cases with the associated types of standards (process and use cases, information, services). d) First version of the SSG Radar Screen, aiming at describing: The level of effort of the ASD in the development of standards (“Adopt existing standard”, “Participate in external development”, “Monitor external development, ASD development”), The level of adoption of the standard (“Potential candidate”, “Candidate”, “Adopted”)
Kick off meeting of the ASD SSG (Strategic Standardization Group), held on the 9th and 10th of September 2008 at EADS Suresnes
The first SSG meeting has gathered 25 persons, of 10 European manufacturers, and A&D associations (AGUSTA WESTLAND, BAES, Dassault-Aviation, EADS MAS, EADS Airbus, EADS HQ, THALES, SAFRAN, SOGITEC, GIFAS), & a military governmental agency as guest (SIMMAD).
Executive summary: - The sharing of efforts for the development of common A&D e-Business standards, and associated harmonized European polices for operational use are understoodas two strategic levers of competitiveness for all the A&D manufacturers and their supply chains (New role of the Original Equipment Manufacturer as System Integrator, and product & process Information Integrator).
- Confirmation of the strong interest and of the participation of 8 European manufacturers in the next SSG meetings. New actions of communication are in preparation to extend the number of members in the SSG.
- Presentation and overall agreement on the Terms of Reference of the SSG. The principle of a specific yearly fee to be paid by the SSG members (either directly or through a project) has been agreed by a majority of participants. The mode of funding and the amount of the 2009 fee will be reviewed during the next SSG meeting. It will be based on the 2009 SSG work plan and needs of resources (internal, external).
- A first version of the list of European A&D business requirements for e-Business information standards has been gathered. It will be updated regularly. It is the basis for the monitoring by the SSG of the development and of the use of the “components standards” at the right time.
-A first overview of the status of at least 10 e-Business standards useful for the European A&D manufacturers has been organized during the meeting, categorized in 4 groups (transversal standards like security, PLM, SCM and ILS). It will have to be maintained and extended.
- The main objectives of the SSG are to ensure: - the availability at the right time of each e-Business standard requested by the industry, - the overall consistency of these standards, in order to avoid lacks of standard or not managed overlapping. It results in the setting up and maintenance of the SSG “radar screen” and of the architecture framework of open e-Business standards.
- All the SSG members have to prepare for the next meeting a list of contributions to ensure the best efficiency and pay back of this important activity for the European A&D harmonization. | |
