Next steps

To end of March, present the white-paper to  trade and standardization associations

Mid of April 2015 :

  • Organization of a kick off conference call/meeting of the PDM-IF User Group.
  • Go/NoGo Gate on Industry commitment at the User Group kick Off


May-June 2015 :

  • Setting up the project and reviewing the Operations Manual:
    • Confirming the availabilities of resources for the first year,
    • Validating the priorities of activities for the first year,
  • Go/NoGO Gate on Project funding

October 2015:

  • Organization of a kick off meeting of the PDM-IF Implementer Group.

 

First Year Project plan 
The target is to deliver one set of PDM recommended practice defined in 1 year, based on 2 PDM interoperability test rounds per year, the recommended practice being updated after each test round.

New use cases will be defined and prioritized, at the end of the current year, as input for the next year.

The first year schedule will have to take into account:

  • the latency due to the set-up of the activities and roll out of the User group and the Implementor group
  • the risks related to the set-up and launch of the PDM-IF activities through a set of Go/NoGo gates: Industry Commitment at the User Group Kick-Off, Industry funding before the Implementers kick-Off, implementers participation at the end of the test preparation phase.

The PDM-IF first year schedule is illustrated in the figure below.
The first proposed list of use cases identified by industry and PLM vendors is based on the AP242 PDM exchanges:

  • Use case A: Explicitly Configured “as designed” PDM product structure exchanges as single AP242 BO Model XML file referencing 3D CAD models (in STEP or other CAD format) with validation properties in XML;
  • Use case B: Explicitly Configured “as designed” PDM product structure exchanges as single AP242 BO Model XML file referencing documents;
  • Use case C: Explicitly Configured “as designed” PDM product structure exchanges as fully shattered AP242 BO Model XML file referencing 3D CAD models (in STEP or other CAD format) with validation properties in XML.
